There is nothing like making music around a fire and maybe even roasting some marshmallows, definitely sharing stories about the wonderful memories at Ile Alafia.

Join us for this special occasion that begins with sound bowl therapy with Reyna Namaste. We’ll share a light meal then drum into to night with members of the EarthMovers Drum Collective, Hub City Drum n Dance!

Feel bring to bring a snack or simple dish to share.

Park on the street and come around the back of the house along the right side. We have a fire ring that will keep us warm as we drum and dance around the fire!

EarthMovers Drum Collective started as a garden blessing where everyone drummed and danced. The idea was about sharing good energies and intentions. From there it grew!

Imagine a group of people, picking up a drum or other percussion; and the next thing you know, everyone is jamming! The air is filled with motivating sound and movement. You are floating and really feeling the beat! The sound is healing. You are part of the drumming and rhythm.

Founder, Dave Miller started drumming with pots and pans and has studied with Babatundi Olatunji, Ubaka Hill, Jim Donovan, Arthur Hull, Raquy Danziger, Mz Imani, Greg “Sule” Wilson, Mamoudou Konate Simbo, Mark Wood, Jim Dav, and others.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Mamoudou Konate Simbo is a seventh generation griot from West Africa. He was born in Bo-bo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. Mamoudou has mastered the Djembe, Dunduns, Bendre, Talking Drum, and Calabash. He started his musical training in his early childhood, inspired by his Mother.
Throughout his life, Mamoudou has worked and performed with numerous musicians and artists, coming from various cultural traditions.

ABOUT THE HOST & PROGRAM:
Bharati Carla curates the physical spaces in which Hub City Drum n Dance serves the public. She realized her passion for and reconnection with drumming while at one of Raquy Danziger's retreats in the Catskills.
Hub City Drum n Dance- one of the first projects of Garden of Healing Yoga Center- was created with the intention of supporting the exploration of life, love and Self.

Over the years, the amazing guest list over the years includes Marla Leigh Goldstein, John deKadt, Ganesh Kumar, Hari Krishna, Dalien 13 Hands, Rami el Asser, DUM, Bright Hawk and many more.
In recent years, Hub City DnD began organizing residencies and workshops with such greats as Alessandra Belloni, Will Ruiz and Raíces; as well as provide off-site interactives and performances for Raritan River Fest, Ciclovia, RWJ Community Health, local schools, nursing homes and private groups.

ABOUT THE HOSTESS:
Bharati Carla was given the name Bharati, which means one who supports or sustains others. As the owner of Garden of Healing Yoga & Wellness and an integral part of the Holistic community in central NJ for many years, she is passionate about bringing the benefits of yoga & meditation to all those who seek it and need it. Bharati Carla was introduced to meditation as a child in the 1980's, bodywork in the 1990's and began her formal Yoga Teacher Training at Freehold Yoga Center in 2009. She trained in Classic Sivananda, Yogic Science for Addictive Behavior and is certified in Yoga of the Heart®- Therapy for Cancer and cardiac patients as well as Kundalini Yoga & Yoga for Differently-Abled Children.

Born in Trinidad and a long-time resident of New Brunswick, Bharati regularly offers programs for all ages and provides support and empowerment for those overcoming great challenges such as domestic violence, homelessness and addiction. Her center is an integral part of the community and a Wellspring of resources for all those who visit in person and online, as well as for homebound clients in need of integrated bodywork therapies. All offerings meant to acknowledge the current state of the individual's healing process and support moving from surviving to thriving.

Bharati's work through the center inspired her to curate a wellness-based homespace House of Well-Being, which serves traveling professionals and persons in transition, providing a stable and welcoming environment during times of change. Through Mantra, music, rhythmic movement and the post of the spell, Bharati shares with us the magic she always wishes to bestow on all those who come to her- that they may embrace the gift of life, and recognize themselves as a gift to this planet.

Drum n Dance Circle

Begin with simple & fun Kundalini yoga w/ Bharati Carla to awaken the senses then be guided to create a work of visual art w/ local artist Sonya El!

Hands on for all ages- this group experience is geared towards families with kids 7+ but is still suitable for younger children. Parent/Guardians must remain and engaged.

You'll leave with artwork in hand, radiant body leading the way! Bring a book or food donation to enter give-away!

Every 2nd Saturday since 2014, we've gathered to enjoy and share rhythms from around the world. Usually featuring guest artists or organizations to teach the integral nature of drum & dance; and occasionally we just gather.

Give a heads-up if you need a drum; we have plenty!

We'll be both outside around the fire as well as inside; dress accordingly! Masks optional.

We'll also have drums, drum bags, brass & rosewood containers, incense, soaps, essential oils and more on sale.
