8:30pm African Drumming Class
* Learn authentic West African djembe with Mamoudou Konate Simbo!
* Limited space- registration required

10:00pm Drum/Dance Circle
* Elevate yourSelf with rhythms to close out the year and welcome in the new!

11:40pm Drum Procession to Fireworks
* Join the other locals enjoying downtown New Brunswick as we await the Fireworks off the top of Heldrich Hotel!
* The city has not mandated masks for the fireworks event, but please have one on hand in case that changes.

**In order to keep a safe event with minimal risk of transmitting communicable diseases, we will NOT have a New Year’s toast. We will celebrate outdoors at the fireworks and then come back to the studio to gather our belongings. You’re also welcome to pack up beforehand then leave from the fireworks location.

LIVESTREAM OPTION:
* Join the celebration from your location! Livestream access is available for the class and drum circle! To preserve sound quality, this is mostly view only but we will be able to chat with you during break. Livestream participants are able to chat with each other throughout the whole event.

SETTING:
* Our studio is just 2 blocks from NJ Transit station.
* You will receive a separate text message with directions and a DOOR CODE- very important to look for this!
* We're on the 2nd floor, accessible by elevator or stairs.
* Chairs & drums provided; you're welcome to bring your drum or use one of ours and save the schlepp!

LOGISTICS & SAFETY:
* Drum Circle registration open until day of, as space is available.
* We're keeping it intimate. Sign up to save your spot!
* Whole-room ventilation and air sanitizing will be done prior to workshops.
* Masks are RECOMMENDED indoors, but not mandatory.
* If regulations for indoor gatherings change, we will adjust accordingly and advise you.
* If you have been in prolonged close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 5-7 days, PLEASE CHOOSE THE LIVESTREAM OPTION.
* If you are experiencing cold-like/flu-like symptoms, PLEASE CHOOSE THE LIVESTREAM OPTION.
* If you have purchased in-person and need to change to Livestream, contact Bharati Carla for the Zoom link and a partial refund.
* Ticket price is completely refundable if the event cannot be held or if your comfort level changes.
* Bring a sweater! Windows will be open to increase ventilation. Masks are a personal choice.
* Definitely want your warm outerwear when we head outside to fireworks!

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Mamoudou Konate Simbo is a seventh generation griot from West Africa. He was born in Bo-bo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. Mamoudou has mastered the Djembe, Dunduns, Bendre, Talking Drum, and Calabash. He started his musical training in his early childhood, inspired by his Mother.
Throughout his life, Mamoudou has worked and performed with numerous musicians and artists, coming from various cultural traditions.

ABOUT THE HOST & PROGRAM:
Bharati Carla curates the physical spaces in which Hub City Drum n Dance serves the public. She realized her passion for and reconnection with drumming while at one of Raquy Danziger's retreats in the Catskills.
Hub City Drum n Dance- one of the first projects of Garden of Healing Yoga Center- was created with the intention of supporting the exploration of life, love and Self.

Over the years, the amazing guest list over the years includes Marla Leigh Goldstein, John deKadt, Ganesh Kumar, Hari Krishna, Dalien 13 Hands, Rami el Asser, DUM, Bright Hawk and many more.
In recent years, Hub City DnD began organizing residencies and workshops with such greats as Alessandra Belloni, Will Ruiz and Raíces; as well as provide off-site interactives and performances for Raritan River Fest, Ciclovia, RWJ Community Health, local schools, nursing homes and private groups.
